Went to San Diego Botanical Gardens last Saturday. Came away inspired and encouraged. This is the perfect time to set out a few perennials and succulents. Living in such a parched area has brought my attention the beauties and sturdiness of drought tolerant plants and plantings. I feel that a mix of thirsty & dry plants will suit my needs best. It is so fun to search out specific plants such as ajuga, stonecrop, kangaroo paws, and flapjacks. I've been haunting Armstrong Nursery in bi-weekly trips. My walks with Teaberry up and down the hills of the neighborhood have allowed me to observe upclose things that work and the opposite. I am thoroughly jazzed to have some upcoming free time to plot, plant, enhance and maintain.
I still long for a weeping china doll rose ... may splurge on one. A bonus to all this is that TB loves my company outside while he hunts. The neighbors are no longer saying "What happened to your yard?" and have begun to say "I love your yard!" One even called it whimsical.
