I have long had affinity for plaid. When teaching 2nd grade I always read Mad About Plaid to my students in the fall. It's about a girl who finds a plaid purse and then everything she touches turns to plaid. The kids were always so excited to find a word that describes that criss-crossing pattern of lines. Most of them owned something plaid: shirt, sneakers, dress, hat, or what have you. Someone would always say, "Let's wear plaid tomorrow". Thus an optional Plaid Day ensued. We also did self-portrait art projects where I supplied scraps of plaid fabric for clothing.
Personally, I love wearing plaid as well. I have a pair of plaid Toms, a top or two, a red plaid skirt and jumper (which I have not worn since I retired from the classroom.) Yesterday I made a point to go to Target to get my free red plaid tote bag for Red Cardholders. Alas I was informed that my store had only gotten in 20 and that they were all gone. On my list of things to do today is to write an email to Target Corp.
